We all know how the basic operation of a touchless faucet works. You put your hand under the faucet, it turns on. Take your hand away, it turns off. It all seems simple enough, however there is some intelligence to each component! Within your touchless faucet, there are four key components: the sensor, the power source, the spout, and the most important part, the solenoid-controlled valve.

The Sensor

One common misconception is that the sensor within touchless faucets are “motion activated.” However, our sensors cannot actually detect motion. Instead, the sensor detects the presence of an object in front of it. So when you place an object, such as your hands in front of a faucet, the sensors use small infrared light that is mounted next to an infrared detector. This light bounces off your skin as you get closer to the faucet, and the signal then turns on the faucet valve when you are within a few centimeters of it.

Solenoid Valve

So the sensor is what activated the solenoid valve within the faucet. The function of the solenoid valve is to push or pull an electromagnetic, depending on the electric polarity. The valve is held shut until the sensor detects an object. This pulls the valve open to allow water flow. When your hands are removed from the reach of the sensor under the faucet, the valve is then pushed down and closed.

Power Source

Because electricity is needed to run the sensor to operate the water valve, a constant power source is needed in the faucet. This power source can come in a few different forms. The first being a dry-cell battery installed into the neck of the faucet that then provides power to the sensor. The other source of power could come from an AC transformer that powers a continuous electric current to hold a solenoid valve open in order for water to flow.

Community Transmission remains one of the most prominent ways that the COVID 19 virus is being transmitted within Canada. Medical areas

Touch free faucets are regulated in work areas with increased infection instances to prevent accidents (health service VBG 103)

Meat-processing systems

According to the meat hygiene regulation FIHV EEC guideline for butcher certifications (federal legal gazettes of 02.04.79), wash areas must operate hands-free. This applies to all slaughterhouses, dismantling and processing plants, as well as meat departments with fresh meat, butcher‘s shops, and the meat-processing industry.

Hello and welcome to Faucet Canada’s guide to surviving the April 2021 lockdown (in Ontario). In this short blog, we will go over some of our favourite ways to keep active, stay mentally sharp, and remain vigilant during these concerning times. With the intention of filling some of the free time brought on by isolating, we have established some healthy and productive ways for you to enjoy yourself.

Staying physically active:

With gyms closed, and many concerned about going outside due to the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, feeling sluggish is a common occurrence. One of the biggest concerns that people have in lockdown is that they aren’t getting enough fresh air and exercise. A good way to handle this issue is by doing exercise at home. The CDC recommends doing at least 30 minutes of home exercise a day for 5 days a week, with at least 2 of these days being for muscle strengthening activities. One resource which is commonly used to get exercise in is to browse some fitness videos on YouTube.

YouTube has thousands of free videos for workouts, aerobics, fitness, yoga and many other forms of physical activity that would be suitable for a home environment. These YouTube videos are a great way to learn some new exercises that are suitable for your condition and that don’t require equipment. To do some more traditional aerobic activity such as jogging, walking, jump rope, and biking, going outside may be necessary. Just remember to be courteous to others, wear your mask at all times and stay at least 1 meter away from all passerbys.

Staying mentally active:

One way to stay mentally active during your days spent in lockdown is to try and learn at least 3 new things a day. This could mean learning new soft skills, hard skills, or even a fun fact. Learning specific skills can take some time, so I try and learn just one to two a week. It doesn’t have to be anything serious either, just last week I learned how to do a simple magic card trick. It didn’t take that long to learn, and it kept me entertained for at least a couple hours that week.

Another way to challenge your brain is to do some puzzles and thinking exercises. Anagrams, cross-words, sudoku, jig-saws, rubik’s-cube, trivia, you name it. Anything that will keep your mind engaged and your focus off of the lockdown is good. Many of these games can be ordered from Amazon or are available to be played online after searching for them in Google. A personal favourite puzzle game of mine to play is Tetris. If interested, the link to the game will be listed at the bottom of the blog along with some other puzzle game resources.

Staying vigilant:

During a lockdown it’s important to protect not only yourself, but others. While it is necessary to get outside for your essentials such as groceries, you should try and limit your exposure to other people. Some of the Government of Canada’s most recommended methods of staying safe are as follows. Frequent hand washing, wearing a mask when in public, hand sanitation before and after going out, avoiding spaces with poor air ventilation, and remaining at least 1 meter away from others. The Government of Canada has also reported that infected aerosolized droplets of water containing the virus may enter your body through mucous membranes around your eyes, nose, and mouth. So it would be best practice to try and stop touching our faces frequently.

FAUCETS CANADA INCORPORATED (FCi)

ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

FCI warrants that its electronic faucets, flush valves and controls will be free of defects in material and workmanship during normal use for one year from the date the product is purchased. This warranty is made to the original consumer purchaser and shall be effective from date of purchase as shown on purchaser’s receipt.

If a defect is found in normal use, FCI will, at its discretion, repair, provide a replacement part or product, or make appropriate adjustments. Damage caused by accident, misuse, or abuse is not covered by this warranty. Improper care and cleaning will void the warranty. Proof of purchase (original sales receipt) must be provided to FCI with all warranty claims. FCI is not responsible for labor charges, installation, or other incidental or consequential costs other than those noted above. In no event shall the liability of FCI exceed the purchase price of the faucet, valve or control.

If you believe that you have a warranty claim, contact your FCI Distributor, Dealer or Plumbing Contractor. Please be sure to provide all pertinent information regarding your claim, including a complete description of the problem, the product, model number, the date the product was purchased, from whom the product was purchased and the installation date. Also include your original invoice. FCI AND/OR SELLER DISCLAIM ANY LIABILITY FOR SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

This warranty excludes product damage due to installation error, incorrect maintenance, wear and tear, battery, water composition, product abuse, or product misuse, whether performed by a contractor, service company, or the consumer. This warranty does not cover product damage caused by the following:

Incorrect installation, inversions of supply pipes
Pressures or temperatures exceeding recommended limits
Improper manipulation, tampering, bad or lapsed maintenance
Foreign bodies, dirt or scale introduced by the water supply

RETURNS

Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.

Late or missing refunds (if applicable)

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Thereafter, please contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Finally, contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items (if applicable)

Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.

Exchanges (if applicable)

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at sales@faucetscanadainc.com and send your item to: 174 West Beaver Creek Road, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B 1B4, Canada.

Gifts

If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.

If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver and he will find out about your return.

Shipping

To return your product, you should mail your product to: 174 West Beaver Creek Road, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B 1B4, Canada.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
